Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the NFL
COVID was back and giving teams hell.
The postseason hopes were making fans care,
In hopes that Washington would still be there.
The team has battled from the pre-season spreads,
While visions of playoffs still danced in their heads.
The race for the wildcard sure was tight,
Every game we needed to put up a fight.
When out on the media there arose such a clatter,
It wasn’t until week 15 that COVID was the matter.
Away went the difference for those who got the shot,
The NFL proved the vaccine can’t make it stop.
The media was quick to say this team is done,
But we still had a lot of games left to be won.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a schedule change we thought would save the year.
With a season that started, Fitzamagic we never got to see.
The real magician was the QB named HI-NA-KEY.
More heart than any player in the game,
Soon stadiums were chanting his name.
No Fitz, No Thomas, No Scherff and we lost Chase Young!
On Holcomb, On Johnson, On Allen to show how it’s done.
To the top of the roster, so many changes we saw,
Now go play! Go play! Go play all!
A trip to Buffalo showed how quickly a game can turn,
And “Let’s Go Brandon” became a country concern.
Off to Atlanta we really needed our second victory,
Carter’s 101-yard kickoff return made history.
And then, the Saints went marching home with a win,
That Callaway Hail Mary should have been a sin!
The Chiefs dominated and danced on Sean Taylor’s logo,
Hey, Mahomes, your little brother is a big no-no!
You have to look before you Lambeau Leap,
This new Kicker BLEW-ITT, BLEEP!
Halloween in Denver where altitude sickness is real,
A chance for a Hail Mary, another interception wasn’t ideal.
Here we go again with a record of two and six.
Going into the bye week, we had a lot to fix.
Tom Brady is back and Chase Young done,
Those young boys showed us football is fun.
Down to Charlotte, Coaches old stomping ground,
The Washington D gave them a 4th down pound.
Superman returns had so much hype,
But it was Heinicke who took the spotlight!
Monday Night Football, home against Seattle,
It was so cold, but those boys came to battle.
A Fuller interception and Seahawk gloom,
“Everything we need is in this (locker) room”.
Feeling lucky and booked a flight to Vegas,
Winning four in a row sure is contagious.
We gave the Cowboys a 4th quarter scare,
But it’s hard to win when your lineup is bare.
A Tuesday night game Gilbert was starting in Philly,
We brought our own benches, it’s going to be chilly.
The Defense played a heck of a first half,
After Collins got hurt, the lead didn’t last.
There’s still a chance for a playoff miracle this season,
Winning the next three games would be part of the reason.
So keep on believing in the burgundy and gold,
Because singing hail to the Football Team never gets old.
