I dread the holidays. Mostly because November and December are two of the most depressing months when you are a Washington Redskins fan.
It’s been a few days since one of the worst losses in Redskins history. Some of us are trying to forget that awful, cold day in FedEx, but it continues to haunt fans though news headlines and press conferences.
After the 27-7 embarrassing beat down by Tampa Bay, the fallen star quarterback, Robert Griffin III showed up to the postgame press conference wearing what could be the ugliest hat that I have ever seen.
“It takes 11 men,” Griffin said. “It doesn’t take one guy, and that’s proven. If you want to look at the good teams in this league and the great quarterbacks, the Peytons and the Aaron Rodgers, those guys don’t play well if their guys don’t play well. They don’t.”
I’m sorry, did RG3 just put himself in the same category as Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers?? Um… Dr. Andrews, can you check RG3 for concussion symptoms; he has lost his mind (and the Redskins playbook). Please, explain to me how Griffin thinks HE should be mentioned in the same quarterback class as Peyton and Rodgers. Not. Even. Close.
Frustrated, Gruden delivered a brutally honest analysis of the quarterback after Sunday’s loss.
“Robert had some fundamental flaws,” Gruden said. “His footwork was below average. He took three-step drops when he should have taken five. He took a one-step drop when he should have taken three, on a couple occasions, and that can’t happen. He stepped up when he didn’t have to step up and stepped into pressure. He read the wrong side of the field a couple times. So from his basic performance just critiquing Robert it was not even close to being good enough to what we expect from the quarterback position.”
The controversy over who-threw-who under the bus is irrelevant. Try being a Redskins fan year after year; it feels like we get hit by that damn bus every season and stillllll after all of our pain and suffering, we continue to bleed burgundy and gold and sing Hail to Redskins.
I don’t blame Coach Gruden for his comments on Griffin. Gruden didn’t expose Griffin; he just said what the entire fan base has been thinking and feeling. Robert Griffin III was the 2012 rookie of the year and came to Washington, like others, who gave this city a lot of hope and just like the others, he’s given us a lot of nope!
For once, someone in this town didn’t BS their way through a scripted press conference to tell viewers more lies and point fingers. Gruden explained the echo of BOOOOOOOOO’s that took over FedEx.
Coming off their bye-week the Redskins were flat out awful. Embarrassing. They bleeeeeeping suuuuuuuuuck! This game would have even made my dad cuss out loud. However, he was smart enough to stop watching after the first turnover and asked if I wanted a paper or plastic bag to put over my head. I told him paper.
The Redskins gave up three, THREE, first round draft picks and one second rounder for the charismatic quarterback. I was in Radio City when it all happened and the whole experience was awesome! Now, the RG3 experience has six games left to figure out if he wants to be a celebrity endorser and a social media socialite or if he wants to be the quarterback of the Washington Redskins.
Since coming off the ACL surgery Griffin is 4-14 in his last 18 starts. He has thrown 20 TD’s and 16 picks, rushed for zero touchdowns and lost six fumbles.
Griffin wants to be the leader, well; I wish he would lead the team in studying the playbook. But for now, he’s ‘Focused on San Francisco’.
