YESSS! The baddest female athlete is back! Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and the women who pioneered the MMA for females, Ronda Rousey, finally made her way to WWE fulltime. Women’s wrestling has grown. It was time for an all-women’s Royal Rumbel and Sunday night was that historic night in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As thirty women entered the ring and entertained for an hour and it ended with Asuka as the first woman to win the Royal Rumbel. Pretty cool for WWE! But then, the WWE got much hotter. As the RAW Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss, and SamackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair, were standing with the new Royal Rumbel winner, Asuka, the speakers blasted Jona Jet, Bad Reputation.
Boom! The rumors are true! In walks “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey! There is no denying that I’m completely biased of Ronda. She is the most beautiful badass on the planet! I became a fan when she debuted in the UFC in 2013. Despite her last two matches, she will always be the Champ to me. Ronda grew up loving professional wrestling and openly admits to stealing her marketing style from watching wrestling. She was “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey for reason; she wanted to be like wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper. And how badass was it that the black leather jacket she walkout in belonged to Rowdy Roddy Piper? His son gave it to her to wear as she made her entrance.
It wasn’t until later we learned she had signed a full-time contract with the WWE and Ronda’s character will be an exaggerated version of her UFC personality! JACK POT!
The next question is when will we see Rowdy Ronda Rousey in the ring? According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the plan for Ronda is to participate in a mixed tag match April 8th in New Orleans for WrestleMania 34. She could face WWE COO Triple H and his wife, Stephanie McMahon (daughter of Vince McMahon). The irony of this matchup goes back to WrestleMania 31 when Ronda, as a spectator, got into the ring and put Stephanie into a submission hold. So who will be her partner? The Rock? Could you imagine the Rock and Ronda as teammates? Pure marketing gold! Cha-Ching! Even my parents would want to the see this tag-team match. Well, maybe not my dad because he would be in bed before it started, but he will ask Alexa who won the next day.
Ronda is a game changer with a huge fan-base. I can’t wait!
