Shohei Ohtani NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night to advance to the World Series, while Shohei Ohtani proved he’s the best player to ever play the game of baseball.

If you missed last night’s NLCS (National League Championship Series) Game 4, you missed one of the greatest nights in baseball history. Shohei Ohtani pitched six shutout innings and struck out ten batters — all while hitting three monster home runs. One of those home run balls left the stadium and still hasn’t landed.

Summer Blues

July 2025 will go down as a painful memory for Dodgers fans and a banner month for the other team in blue, the Milwaukee Brewers. In six straight games, the Dodgers were swept by the Brewers. Whether it was a 9–1 beatdown, a 10-inning thriller, or a 6–5 upset in L.A., the Dodgers were left singing the blues.
The Brewers swept the Dodgers in both series and, in doing so, sent a warning: this small-market team is a serious contender. Even with a roster stacked with talent and payroll like the Dodgers, the Brewers made it clear they were going to be a problem in October.
Basically, the starting pitchers couldn’t get through three innings, Ohtani didn’t start pitching until August as he eased back from Tommy John surgery, and the bullpen stayed hurt. Pitching was painful, and key players were always injured.

NLCS

A lot of fans questioned whether the Dodgers could even make it to the NLCS and even more were nervous about facing the Brewers there. The winner would advance to the World Series. The Brewers entered the series as the top seed in the NL Central, while the Dodgers were the Wild Card winner (lower seed) who advanced through the postseason. The Dodgers swept the Reds and then beat the Phillies and then faced the team with the best record in baseball. But what happened next was sheer greatness.
The Dodgers’ pitching dominance returned, with the starting rotation healthy and throwing deep into games. Blake Snell threw eight shutout innings, struck out ten, and walked none. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a complete game, and Tyler Glasnow, along with the bullpen, held the Brewers to one run.
Then came Game 4 and Shohei Ohtani: three home runs and ten K’s. Are you kidding me?

Greatness

Shohei Ohtani has redefined what greatness looks like. You could argue he’s not just the best player in baseball today, but that he’s the best the game has ever seen! No one else has ever combined power, speed, and skill with such effortless command. The two-way superstar isn’t just generational, he’s historical! He is now the only pitcher ever to hit a leadoff home run in regular or post season.

What Ohtani is doing isn’t just rare; it’s something baseball fans never thought they’d see again. For over a century, Babe Ruth was the gold standard. Ruth was the mythical two-way player who could dominate on the mound and launch baseballs into orbit with a beer belly and grin. Then came Ohtani, and he’s rewritten greatness entirely. When healthy, Ohtani is a top-five pitcher and a top-five hitter at the same time. That’s not supposed to be humanly possible. He hits baseballs over 450 feet and throws pitches over 100 mph AND does both in the same game without an ego. Just WOW! What a time to be alive!

No surprise, Ohtani was the NLCS MVP.

World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading back to the World Series, and with their payroll, it’s World Series or bust. When the Dodgers are healthy, they are dangerous and built for October baseball. The Dodgers will face the winner of the ALCS between the Mariners or Blue Jays.

It’s been 25 years since the MLB has had back-to-back World Series champions, but the Dodgers are four wins away from changing that.

Future first-ballot Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw has announced he’ll retire after this season. No way the Dodgers are losing this World Series.

Game 1 starts Friday, October 24 on FOX.
