When the news broke about how Super Bowl winner and New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, allegedly was involved in a sex sting operation in Jupiter, Florida I wasn’t in shock. I just had a lot of questions. I believe in due process and getting all the facts before jumping to a verdict. But, we all know how the news media is more interested in telling you their own version of the story for media buzz.

There is no evidence that Robert Kraft knew that the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in south Florida had employees that were victims of a sex-trafficking ring. Until there is proven evidence, I will not judge Kraft for what he did not know.

Robert Kraft is 77 years-old and a widow. He is one of the most decorated owners in all of sports. While no one wants to think about their grandpa needing a lady friend or some special company, what’s wrong with an old man just needing some help to feel better?

Here’s how I look at it. Was it consensual? Hookers don’t bother me. To be clear, I don’t agree with it, but if that’s the lifestyle someone chooses, (again, they choose on their own free will) then why can’t two consensual adults make their own decisions? Some could argue that dating and relationships are just a different form of prostitution. I know lots of wives that have bribed their husbands with sexual favors.

How do we know Kraft paid for “sexual services? Was there a menu with services you check off like when you order from a sushi menu? I’m being 100% serious. How would you even know if a spa really offers a happy ending? Is there a special code on the wall that translates “I do for you?” Is there a secret knock that lets the spa know you want the full rub down?

I’ve had my butt massaged. I had an awful bruise on my butt for weeks after having a corner of a chair back stab my butt cheek. My underwear didn’t cover my full cheek and I felt bad the massage therapist was looking at skin that had never seen sunlight and had a huge black and blue bruise. I felt like I needed to explain no one is abusing me, I’m just a short girl living in a world made for taller people. I jokingly asked if massaging it would make is less sore. He didn’t pause and said he highly recommend it. He told me all about the glutes maximus muscles and how massaging those muscles are normal. They are not allowed to touch that area without the client asking. Most people are too scared to ask. Was the massage therapist cheating on his boyfriend with me? No, he wasn’t. Massaging muscles is part of their job.

When the news says Kraft “frequented” the strip mall spa, define how many times that really is? Every day, once a week, once a month, once a year, twice in his life, etc. Saying you “frequent” an establishment is more of a regular schedule. Leave it to the news to let you believe he was a regular VIP customer with his own personal room. Kraft visited the Spa twice. Once on January 19th for 40 minutes and once on January 20th for 14 minutes. Would you ever call a person who goes to the dentist twice a year a person who frequents the dentist? No! He went twice. Why was it so difficult for the news to say Kraft went to the Orchids of Asia day spa twice?

Where is the proof? The police affidavit says that a female employee can be seen on the video manipulating his genitals and later wiping Kraft’s genitals with a towel. Do you have to be worried that there is a video camera in a private massage room? (If so, I would like to have the video of me falling off the massage table from being tangled up in the sheets in San Diego.) He’s 77 years old. Does it still even work? (I do not want to know the answer.) The news is saying it still does. Which makes me go back to all the education I got from the butt massage. Muscles need to be massaged and technically it is a muscle…

So now what? Kraft was charged on Monday with two counts of soliciting someone to commit prostitution. What if it’s the employee’s job to “up sell”? What if Kraft was the one being solicited? In Florida, the charge for soliciting someone to commit prostitution is a first-degree misdemeanor. If convicted, it is punishable by up to one year in jail, a $5,000 penalty, 100 hours of mandatory community service and educational programs on prostitution and human trafficking.

The NFL is looking into the case.

On a more serious note:

Human trafficking and sex trafficking are disgusting and hateful crimes. Those who lure in young women and girls with the false promises of a better future and then exploit them to capitalize are evil monsters. These traffickers should be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law.
