“Collective Classlessness”

Saturday night under the lights at a checkerboard Neyland Stadium is special. Social media and the SEC Network both were talking about the atmosphere in Neyland Stadium as one of the best scenes in college football this year. (And it was!) But if you only saw Social media close to midnight, then you only saw one of the most chaotic, frustrating, WTF endings in college football.

Let’s Rewind:
The love hate relationship with Lane Kiffin is the definition of a toxic relationship. Mention the word Kiffin to any University of Tennessee fan and the range of bleeps runs deep. Lane Kiffin is the ex who broke up with you on a post-it note while you are sleeping and left. He’s the ex who has learned time and time again that the grass isn’t always greener, but still flirts with you to keep you close. He’s the ex that knows when the timing is right, he will have to beg for your forgiveness, but he will troll you until that day comes. He’s like the ex you can’t unfollow on social media because, well, he still makes you laugh. He’s the ex that named his son after you (Knox) and you know he will always love you deep down. But he’s the ex that brings out the worst in you and he’s the ex that will never change.

I still say we never should have left here. So many good people and a great place to live, but Lane just couldn’t say no to USC.” -Monte Kiffin on Lane leaving Tennessee.

Fast Forward:
Yea, yea, you know what happened Saturday night in Neyland Stadium. I was there and I can tell you that 99.9% of us 102,000+ fans were not chucking our $15.00 Truly’s on the field. 18 fans have been arrested for allegedly throwing stuff on the field. While I do not support activities that could injure anyone else, some of those throwers need to see if they have any eligibility left to suit up for this Saturday. And don’t blame the students. Ole Miss fans were seated above the student section and were seen acting like animals.

I’m more concerned about the trash on the field wearing black and white. This game was Angel Hernandez level awful officiating. Tennessee conversion on 4th and 24 with less than a minute left in the game was ruled a questionable turnover on downs. Every single break or call was a gift for #13 Ole Miss and the Vols were only down by FIVE POINTS. I’m not mad at those boys in orange, they played their butts off. Up until UT QB, Hendon Hooker, got hurt in the last minute, Tennessee looked damn good. It was a heck of football game. But no, no one has said a word about the actual football game played.

Pete Thamel from Yahoo Sports said “Tennessee’s reputation as having the worst fan base in college football grew incrementally. As each item crashed to the turf, another piece of empirical evidence was added to a rich history of collective classlessness.” Cute Petey. Let me remind you of “Classless Fans”. What, you didn’t call Ole Miss fans throwing trash on the court at a basketball game “classless”?

And who the bleep are you to name Tennessee as “having the worst fan base in college football”? By worst, you mean you will never find a team who has more loyal, passionate fans who make one of the most electric environments to play college football after decades of shitty football? Did you even watch the dang game, Petey? I bet you were the one who threw the mustard bottle. You want to bash something, bash Joe Milton for RUNNING OUT OF BOUNDS on the final play to try to win the game.

The media was bitching about a 20-minute delay to finish 54-seconds of the game, but no one was bitching about how much time it took for all of the FAKE INJURIES from Ole Miss? Hey, Lane- let me guess, Layla (ex-wife) taught you how to fake it? The game lasted an hour longer alone because Ole Miss is so soft. I hope no one ever really gets hurt for Ole Miss, but crying wolf and playing opossum are only going to bring them karma that they don’t want. Mostly in the form of the Lane Train leaving in the middle of the night for LSU.
