There is no denying that the WNBA hates Caitlin Clark. It’s not that the league refuses to protect her, but it’s obvious that their agenda is NOT to protect her.
No other player in the WNBA is allowed to get kicked, stepped on, poked in the eye, grabbed by the throat, and thrown around the way Caitlin Clark is without fouls called. The message is clear: the officials turn their heads and make ‘no-calls’ on Clark. It’s disgusting and flat out embarrassing how a league, that Clark made profitable, treats the league’s cash cow.
Haters in the Building
The amount of hate and jealousy from players is shocking. Clark makes everyone more money, her hype was the selling point for higher media contracts and resulted in better accommodations and more exposure to other players in the league.
Still, she has been socially isolated and targeted from day one! The only explanation is that the haters are jealous!
Press Charges
Caitlin Clark should press charges against the WNBA for creating and supporting a hostile work environment and against Alyssa Thomas for battery. Thomsas’ actions on Wednesday night should have earned her a suspension without pay for the rest of the season, if not banned from the WNBA.
During the Fever’s 111-109 loss to the Mercury, WNBA officials missed two highly controversial sequences involving Clark: first the Thomas throat punch and the second no- call was from Valeriane Ayayi for intentionally crowding Clark’s landing space.
No-Call Incidents
The throat incident: After a scramble for the ball, Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas fell on top of Clark and appeared to press her fist directly into Clark’s throat while using her body weight to get back up. This was intentional. She also kneed Clark in the groin, pinched her underarm, then the fist to the throat (no one tries to break their fall by landing fist-first and smiling), and then Thomas attempted to stomp on her – but Clark moved. This is not basketball, this is evil, jealous, hate with the full-on intention to cause harm.
Dangerous close-out incident: Mercury’s forward Valeriane Ayayi failed to provide Clark with proper landing space on a three-point attempt, causing Clark to land on the defender’s foot. THAT IS NOT A BASKETBALL PLAY! You have to give the shooter room to land. There was no question that the dirtiness of Ayayi was to try to cause injury to Clark.
Clark exited in the second half because of back issues.
Late Call
Finally, with a late call, the WNBA has officially suspended Alyssa Thomas for her barbaric actions. Thomas is ONLY suspended for one game after “recklessly making contact with her fist to the throat area of Caitlin Clark,” per the league. Nothing like having to make a weak, late call after the absolute outrage from fans.
Leaving Caitlin Clark off of the WNBA 30th anniversary poster that included 20 past and present players was downright disrespectful. The league is doing everything they can to minimize her impact and show they will not protect Caitlin Clark. The continued pattern of how different Clark is officiated than the rest of the WNBA is absolutely unacceptable.
